Who should attend?
This course is aimed at supervisors, managers and operatives who use harnesses, associated products, work on (or set up) temporary horizontal safety lines or adjustable lanyards from the horizontal lines.
To give the delegates the correct information to select the correct personal fall protection equipment, carry out a competent pre-use inspection and safely use each selected piece of equipment in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines. This would include, full body fall harnesses, restraint lanyards, fall arrest lanyards, fixed lanyards, adjustable lanyards, personal fall arrest blocks, setting up and dismantling temporary horizontal safety lines, selecting the correct length adjustable lanyard from the line, the ranges of anchor systems that can be used and communal fall arrest blocks.
The delegates understanding will be assessed using a 20-question theory test of which the successful delegate will need to get 80% of all multiple-choice questions correct and a practical assessment which would include correct inspection, assembly and dismantling of a temporary horizontal safety line.
A suitable classroom environment (min 15M²) with; a 240V power supply, a table for the instructor to set up a projector and laptop, adequate seating and desk space for each delegate and adequate heating/ventilation. The classroom must be available for the sole use of the course for the full duration of the training without interruption. There also needs to be an area to complete the setting up and dismantling of a Horizontal Safety Line.
Successful delegates will receive an ALS photo card and certificate valid for five years.
