This Emergency First Aid at Work course is ideal for smaller workplaces that present few health and safety risks.

A minimum of 6 hours consisting of theoretical and practical activities

Description

It is a requirement of the Health & Safety Law that employers should provide a safe and healthy environment for their employees. Your risk assessment of First Aid needs may well highlight the need for Emergency First Aiders either as an addition to your First Aiders, or where the risk of your business is low, it may well identify them as being sufficient without the need of additional First Aiders.

Syllabus

A range of subjects are covered including:

  • Responsibilities and reporting
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Basic hygiene in First Aid
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Resuscitation
  • Heart Attacks
  • Control of bleeding
  • Minor injuries
  • Angina
  • Choking
  • Shock
  • Seizures

Certification

Assessment is ongoing by the instructor and a 3-year qualification will be issued to those who meet the criteria. In addition, the HSE strongly recommend that all students undergo and annual refresher programme of about 3 hours, although it is not mandatory.
